My osfa

Growing up, Mom would wear "MuMu"s around the house. She had sewn most of them herself. They seemed very comfy and we were very used to her wearing them. John wore one once, as a child, and stood over the furnace vent, so that it ballooned out (there's a photo of it). However, when I "grew up", I didn't have a MuMu, and I never saw them in stores. When we lived in Arizona, I saw a neighbor wearing one and she said she got it in Hawaii. She explained to me that in Hawaii, they are called MuhuMuhus. I've also heard them called "housedress". I did have a couple of secondhand MuMus for several years, but they were getting VERY worn. Then, all of a sudden, MuMus were on the racks at WalMart. I bought myself one, and finally learned the "official" name. I called it my "osfa", because that's what it said right on the tag! I knew they couldn't just be called MuMus!

Years later, here in Laramie, I was going through our winter stuff...gloves, hats, etc. The tag on the snow hat caught my eye...It read, "OSFA"...One Size Fits All. You've got to hand it to me...not many people will, for a number of years mind you, refer to an item in their wardrobe as an "osfa".
